Lose 10 Pounds Safely and Without Gimmicks

I need to lose 10 pounds quickly for a wedding that I will be in. I tried to lose 10 pounds before but failed miserably. I'm considering a few options like the Hollywood Diet or Atkins. Do you have any suggestions?

Losing 10 pounds isn't magical. You lose pounds by burning more calories than you eat. One pound of fat equals 3,500 calories. To lose 10 pounds of fat you need a calorie deficit of 35,000  calories. It's not likely you will burn 35,000 extra calories in a week.
 
Avoid fad diets like the Hollywood Diet that try to starve your body into submission. Starving your body to lose weight will only result in binging. Instead of losing weight, you will eventually gain weight.
 
The best way to lose weight is to eat 25% less calories than normal. This way you lose weight naturally and at a steady rate. Most people lose 1 pound per week at this rate. Some even lose 2 pounds each week eating 25% less calories. Others may only lose a half pound.
 
Other factors that determine how fast you lose weight are:
  • Age
  • Current Weight
  • Height
  • Gender
  • Genetic Makeup
  • Frame Size
That's why 2 people can use the same diet and after 2 weeks, one person may lose 1 pound and the other person will lose 4 pounds. However, you should never become discourage just because you don't lose weight fast.
 
The trick is to maintain a healthy diet plan that will allow you to continually lose weight. You should not make drastic changes in your diet unless you eat very unhealthy. Eating low fat versions of foods you normally eat is the key to staying on your diet.
 
Eating small but regular meals throughout the day is another way to keep your metabolism high so that you burn more calories. Also, you won't  feel deprived because of your diet. You can lose 10 to 12 pounds in a period of 5 to 10 weeks by just cutting your intake by 25 percent..
 
So how do you eat less calories to lose weight? Start by cutting your portion size by one-third. This alone may create a calorie deficit that will help you lose weight. Planning your meals each day is a good way to control calorie intake. By writing down every food you plan on eating, you can easily see on paper how to reduce calories and lose weight.
